Job Title
I currently work as a full-time substitute teacher with the Alice
Independent School District.
At this current moment, I am in a 7th and 8th
grade Language Arts Room—which I enjoy very much.
Key responsibilities
My responsibilities include:
lesson plans, grading students’ papers, putting grades in the computer
system for each six weeks period ending, and making sure that my curriculum
flows smoothly and is understandable to each individual child.
Educational Philosophy
My education philosophy is, “If the child cannot learn the
way you teach, then you teach the way the child learns.” Everyday I keep in mind that each child is
unique and different in their way, they each have different learning styles and
I have to adapt to that learning style and incorporate what I am trying to
teach them into that pattern. This is a
two way road—the children learn from me and I in turn learn from them.

Biographical Information
I am a 24 year-old female born in Falfurrias,
Texas and raised in Freer and Alice,
Texas.
I am a mother of three young children and happily married for six
years. My life has been one of a roller
coaster but none of the choices that I have made concerning my life, my
children, and my education have been regretted.
I have learned from each experience and opportunity that has been given
to me! To begin my journey, I dropped
out of high school during my senior year and had my first son. Soon after that, I started to attend college
in Alice, Texas
beginning my basics for the nursing program. Before the birth of my second son (just when I
received the news of being accepted into the program), I decided to switch my
major and work with something closely related to helping children and families. In the fall of 2002, I started attending Texas
A&M University—Kingsville
and received my bachelor’s degree in Human Science. I realized that my dream was to teach, having
children of my own has taught me that I receive joy seeing children smile when
they have accomplished something great.
That is when I enrolled in the ACP program at the university. Upon speaking to several professors, I
realized that enrolling in the ACP program gave me an opportunity to also work
on my master’s degree. I hope to
accomplish all my dreams and goals and with the help of family, friends, and
understanding professors those dreams and goals have been accomplished so far,
I plan to excel further in my life as well as my education. I want my children to look back twenty years
from now and say, “My parents taught me well, they were my inspiration for
never giving up in life.”
